Tabletpublisher.nl asked Designink.nl for advice in the design process of developing the iPad app ‘Become what you are’ for the Amsterdam based Mediacollege. This resulted in an innovative app for prospective students and parents to orient themselves on the curriculum. The application includes audio clips, video portraits and 360° views.

The Kiss and Ride zone allows drivers to stop and help their children out of the car while remaining within 3m of their vehicle. They are reminded by use of a big blue sign.

Booklet, brochure and cheque for the project ‘Closing a protection gap: Core Standards for guardians of separated children in Europe’.

The goal of this project: protect separated children in Europe by developing Core Standards for their guardians. In this project, eight European countries work together.

The Core Standards are represented by ten (universal) symbols. Combined with a tabular system and the use of multi-ink swatches, the information is easy to read and cost-efficiently produced.

Typographical details of the rapport ‘Core Standards for Guardians of separated children in Europe’ (72 pages) show a spacious layout and footnotes provide extra information or clarification without interrupting the main flow of text.

Members of the European Parliament Sargentini (Greens party) and Wikström (Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) advocate for European guardianship rules for separated children. On the 30th of November 2011, they received a report on this issue and have signed to act as ambassadors of the Core Standards for Guardians.

Jaarverslag 2010 Defence for Children

The 2010 Annual Report for Defence for Children strikingly proves that annual reports need not be long and boring. Colourful photography, balanced typography and factual information interspersed with fun and engaging interviews.

Cooperation is extremely important for Defence for Children. We therefore opted for a representation of nine articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and several duo interviews with personal photos; an employee and a partner relating to a current project.

Brabantia chooses Designink.nl and Studio Hert

After an extensive design agency search, Brabantia chose Designink.nl and Studio Hert. Both agencies have joined in developing proposals for a new product branding.

Brabantia manufactures high-quality and durable household goods and exports to over 18 countries. Branding department manager Bart van Elderen:
“We chose Designink.nl and Studio Hert for their creativity and experience in corporate identity. Their draft proposals met our targets and are currently being tested.”

Campaign Health and Safety Measurements

Graphic Design for Health and Safety Measurements for the meat industry. The campaign is aimed at raising awareness of security risks in the workplace for employees and managers. The campaign material includes free cards, booklets and posters.

Especially for employees, most important guidelines are available in various languages (Polish, German, English, Turkish and Arabic). Designink created the visual identity for the campaign and designed the printwork.

The campaign was commissioned by 2 in beweging.

Brandmark and Package Design ‘The Furry Foodie’

The Furry Foodie™ is the brand name of a new product by Ayrshire Farm (Virginia, USA). This Raw Meat Pet Food is produced at the innovative farm of Sandy Lerner (Cisco Systems, Urban Decay Cosmetics). Designink was responsible for the new Logo and Package Design.

Design Process

The Design Brief was formulated by means of extensive research (market analysis and definition of target groups) and a brainstorming session. The brand needed to address the environmentally conscious consumer looking for a healthy and premium petfood.

Initial sketching resulted in a Design Proposal that cleverly combined the playful nature of the brand name and recognizable pet-like features.

Client feedback made clear the design would have to apply for both dog- and cat food formulas. An additional symbol (Complete Raw Meat Meals) underscores the premium quality of the ingredients and enables future product groups to do the same.

The result is a powerful brandmark which can be used for various product groups in the category Raw Pet Foods of the Home Farm Store, the gourmet retail store of Ayrshire Farm.

The market introduction will be long and slow, therefore a temporary sticker was designed to label existing packaging. In due time all dinners (Organic Turkey, Beef, Veal, Rabbit and Chicken) will have their own package design.

By means of research for an assignment for Ayrshire Farm (Virginia, USA) I created an online dashboard on Netvibes with various RSS-feeds. In this way, information about the project can be updated in realtime and is accessible for the client as well.
