Graduation Festival 2015
From 3 to 9 July, bachelor, master and postgraduate students from various disciplines presented their graduation projects in the (art) academy building at the Prinsessegracht 4 in The Hague. This year I was impressed by the enthusiasm and quality of the show.
Worth mentioning was the professional approach of the photography department, who excelled through cooperation (magazine and website) and presentation (individual exhibitions).
As a former student I was particularly interested in the Department of Graphic Design, which now has its place on the top floor of the building. The 40 or so presentations varied in execution; sometimes it was an interactive installation, sometimes a series of posters. Thermatically the content was was very personal (fascinations or manifesto’s) and to a lesser extent, critical thinking (problem-solving abilities). Personal favorites were the presentations by Sanne Groenendaal (Inside the box), Nina Couvert (Stories), Eline van der Ploeg (Living Systems) and René Louter (Dr. X and Mrs. Y).
