Melting road marks India

Originally ‘spotted’ in the paper edition of Dutch newspaper Trouw, Friday, May 29, 2015 (page 20). This beautiful image speaks primarily through the beautiful, hallucinogenic patterns. My first thought is an accident with turpentine, but the caption reveals a more serious nature (India’s heatwave is so hot it causes the roads to melt).

A small search online reveals this image above is one out of many by the photographer Harish Tyagi. Other found images show slight variations in perspective and background (including a red car or a green-yellow rickshaw).
